Socks and Mosters

I had been looking at books on making sock animals and creatures, but I never got around to trying them. I was looking online one day just at random pictures when I came across the cutest pic of a sock monster. When I clicked on it it directed me to Monster-Munch.com. She has the tutorial on how to make the most adorable sock monster ever. Here is how mine came out.

So here is my attempt at the Sock Monsters. I had originally only made the one on the right, but then my niece spotted it in the office and she pleaded for me to make her one for her birthday coming up, so hence the paternal twin on the left.

For everything being hand sewn, I am pretty happy with how they came out.

Party Time

My nice recently turned seven and requested a Justin Bieber themed party. It was nothing fancy, the party was going to consist of mainly family and a couple of friends. To save the parents a little money I offered to make her cupcakes with some Justin Bieber cupcake toppers.

As you can see, they are very simple and I am not the best at icing, but hey, is the thought that counts.

I wanted to make a banner for her and since I am not the biggest Bieber fan, I decided to just stick to the music theme.

I wish I could of gotten a better picture for you but I just didn't have the time. This wall was extremely hard to push the thumbtacks through so my helper did the best he could to get that up. It did need to be stretched out a little so the ribbon would be smooth.

I know it's hard to tell, but it was a very long banner, it was approximately 6 feet.

Hope you guys like it and thanks for reading.

Baby Shower

I know I have been MIA for a while, but I am back. I just have been extremely busy that I do not have time in my days to do everything that I wish I could do.

My BFF is expecting her first baby, which by the way is a girl! I couldn't be more proud of her, not only for the new baby, but also her recent college graduation.

She asked me if I could do her shower invites, she wasn't sure what she wanted or the theme so I told her not to worry that we would come up with it. They were hard work, specially since she was in need of 100 of them. I knew I had to work extremely hard with such short notice, but with her help everything turned out on time. The invites inspired the rest of her theme. She was trilled with the way they turned out so I was happy. So here they are, I hope you like them.

Oh yeah, I must ask you to please bear with me since its a lot of stuff :O)

FYI: The top right pic was the insert of the invite which contained the shower info. I covered the info with a piece of paper for her privacy.

Since she decided to base her theme on the invitations, I offered to help her make some of the centerpieces since she also had a cousin making decorations for the tables. Here is what I came up with.

Not only did they serve as centerpieces for the tables, they also doubled as favors for the guests since they where actually lollipops that we covered in felt just so that they would look more playful. They where a hit with the guest, they did not believe they where real lollipops until someone took the felt off of one.

...Next, besides the cake she had order, she was also making a couple of cupcakes herself since, she was expecting more guests than planned. I offered to make some cupcake toppers to match the theme.

Since I wanted my gift to her be a little more personal than just purchasing some bottles or clothes for the baby from the store I decided to make her a banner with the baby's name that she could hang in the baby's room after the shower and a dipper cake. Of course, she did not get to see these two items until the day of the shower.

So here is the banner...

and here is the dipper cake...
Which also served as a centerpiece for the present table.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the posting. There are more soon to come. Thank you for reading!
