HK Love!!!!

It has been too long! Bottom line is that there is not enough time in my day to accomplish everything that I wish I could. A while back I posted a picture of a ceramics project that I had been working on. I promised to post the finish sculpture but I never did. I am proud to say that is still in display in the art gallery at the college.

So here she is...

A beautiful Ballerina!

Everything was hand sculptured and hand made, from her head to the tip of her shoes :O)
I made her special tutu and bow.
Her spool is made of clay and yes that is real yarn wrapped around it.
As you can see, she is a replica of the little plastic toy that sits on top of the spool.

She is fully made of clay (approximately 45 lbs. was used for Hello Kitty) and is hollow all the way through as is the spool (approximately 7lbs.). She is about 27-30 inches in height.

I hope you like her.

Socks and Mosters

I had been looking at books on making sock animals and creatures, but I never got around to trying them. I was looking online one day just at random pictures when I came across the cutest pic of a sock monster. When I clicked on it it directed me to Monster-Munch.com. She has the tutorial on how to make the most adorable sock monster ever. Here is how mine came out.

So here is my attempt at the Sock Monsters. I had originally only made the one on the right, but then my niece spotted it in the office and she pleaded for me to make her one for her birthday coming up, so hence the paternal twin on the left.

For everything being hand sewn, I am pretty happy with how they came out.

Party Time

My nice recently turned seven and requested a Justin Bieber themed party. It was nothing fancy, the party was going to consist of mainly family and a couple of friends. To save the parents a little money I offered to make her cupcakes with some Justin Bieber cupcake toppers.

As you can see, they are very simple and I am not the best at icing, but hey, is the thought that counts.

I wanted to make a banner for her and since I am not the biggest Bieber fan, I decided to just stick to the music theme.

I wish I could of gotten a better picture for you but I just didn't have the time. This wall was extremely hard to push the thumbtacks through so my helper did the best he could to get that up. It did need to be stretched out a little so the ribbon would be smooth.

I know it's hard to tell, but it was a very long banner, it was approximately 6 feet.

Hope you guys like it and thanks for reading.

Baby Shower

I know I have been MIA for a while, but I am back. I just have been extremely busy that I do not have time in my days to do everything that I wish I could do.

My BFF is expecting her first baby, which by the way is a girl! I couldn't be more proud of her, not only for the new baby, but also her recent college graduation.

She asked me if I could do her shower invites, she wasn't sure what she wanted or the theme so I told her not to worry that we would come up with it. They were hard work, specially since she was in need of 100 of them. I knew I had to work extremely hard with such short notice, but with her help everything turned out on time. The invites inspired the rest of her theme. She was trilled with the way they turned out so I was happy. So here they are, I hope you like them.

Oh yeah, I must ask you to please bear with me since its a lot of stuff :O)

FYI: The top right pic was the insert of the invite which contained the shower info. I covered the info with a piece of paper for her privacy.

Since she decided to base her theme on the invitations, I offered to help her make some of the centerpieces since she also had a cousin making decorations for the tables. Here is what I came up with.

Not only did they serve as centerpieces for the tables, they also doubled as favors for the guests since they where actually lollipops that we covered in felt just so that they would look more playful. They where a hit with the guest, they did not believe they where real lollipops until someone took the felt off of one.

...Next, besides the cake she had order, she was also making a couple of cupcakes herself since, she was expecting more guests than planned. I offered to make some cupcake toppers to match the theme.

Since I wanted my gift to her be a little more personal than just purchasing some bottles or clothes for the baby from the store I decided to make her a banner with the baby's name that she could hang in the baby's room after the shower and a dipper cake. Of course, she did not get to see these two items until the day of the shower.

So here is the banner...

and here is the dipper cake...
Which also served as a centerpiece for the present table.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the posting. There are more soon to come. Thank you for reading!

Valentine's Day #2

For this card, I used the cupcake cut out from the Home Decor cart. As you can see, I love working with ribbon so instead of a cherry on top I decided to put a little bow.

I used my computer for the sentiment and while looking through the clipart I found the cutest cupcake so I had to add it to the card.

Well I hope you guys like it.

With Valentine's Day is just around the corner...

I decided to stop procrastinating and start on my Valentine cards for the hubby and the family. So here you have the first one...

I left the inside of the card blank for now until I decide who it's going to go to. I stamped the cutest stamps in the back, one is "XO" that I purchased at Hobby Lobby and right below it is one that says "hand made by" purchased at Michael's, but the picture was not coming out right. Hopefully I find better light next time and show you guys.

I am satisfied with the way it turned out! I hope you guys like it and it inspires someone:O)

Here is a list of the materials that I used...

-Playtime Cricut Cartridge for the background
-Home Decor cartridge for the sentiment
-Red, blue, pink, and purple cardstock from HL
-Heart printed paper
-V-Day ribbon from HL
-Black, white, and red gel pens
-V-Day stamp "XO" from hobby lobby
-"hand made by" stamp from Michael's

Thoughts Might Evolve: Recent Projects

Since I am into many different things I decided to show you some of the stuff I have been recently working on. Please let me know what you think.

The first thing I want to show you guys is a ceramics project I have been working on. It is a project for school. We were assigned a treasured object project. Since I am in LOVE with Hello Kitty I decided to replicate her and give her my own twist.

Here is where my inspiration came from and...
...here she is!

She is not finished yet I am still working on her. She has been fired in the kiln but she still needs to be glazed(painted). As you can see I used mixed media on her. She is made of buffalo wallow clay. She stands at a little above 24 inches and she weights about 35 pounds (although she is hollow in the inside). I made her tutu and her bow myself. Since I love skulls, I decided to give her my own twist. I am so proud to announce she was picked to be displayed in the student art show (after she is finished).

on to the next project....

Since it's close to Valentine's Day, I was inspired by some pictures that I saw online to make some bracelets for the girls in my family and a couple of friends.
I decided to make some with a red rose and some with a pink rose

Here is how they look on your wrist. I am extremely content how they came out.
on to the next project...

I had been wanting to make myself some feather earrings so I went by Hobby Lobby to purchase the supplies the other day. Here they are completely finished, I can say that I Love the way the turned out. I am so proud of myself. I am going to make some with different color feathers so that I can match my outfits.

Since I was already in the earring making mood I decided to make myself some earring to wear on Valentine's Day. Also, my inspiration for these earrings came from the book.
Inspired by the book
...and a bracelet

Hopefully I can improve with time, let's just hope :O)

The Beginning of Something New!!!!

Well, since I am new to this blogging thing, I am still deciding what I will do with this. I am hopping this will be a space for me to show you my creative side. I hope to show you guys my crafts, photography and maybe some of my art pieces. I love all types of art, I just wish that I had more time to devote to them, with school keeping me busy most of the time, I try to use any free time that I have to create little things here and there. Hopefully I will have some pics of my stuff soon and hope you guys like it.
